Life, the universe and everything.

ALRIGHT – it has now been over a month since my last update, and while I’m sure everyone out there is pretty sure I’m alive (I still spam facebook with status updates like no tomorrow), I figured it might be time to write a new wall of text. So here goes nothing!

School: In the past four weeks, we’ve done 4 assignments. In graphic design, I made an annual report for a non existing company. How do you do that, you ask? You invent it. And make a logo for it. And then create a profile. With guidelines. And then you follow said guidelines to design 24 pages of horrible stuff that looks a bit cheap awesome stuff for the budget airline. All right, so it did look a little bit cheap. But hey, its a BUDGET airline. For STUDENTS. We flock around cheap travel offers like fat kids do around cake.
We’ve now moved on to a real estate project that.. I havent really gotten to start yet. Still on research level of that whole thing, but will have to finish yet another logo for that, and a brochure by friday. Oh, and possibly som poster mockups. We’ll see.

I’ve also started to create a profile for myself, the concept being 100% ole. where the “%” is actually “ole”. Simple. Clean. Likey. The rest of my concept is based on me as a person – using flying pegamoose and flying ninja squirrels and the like. Luckily, our teacher in Visual Communication (the unit that I have to design all this stuff for) is Norwegian, and appreciates some random humor. Good times! On the downside, I now have to start drawing stuff, which I’m pretty much terribad at. Oh well. PEGAMOOSE DRAWING HERE I COME!

In design reflective practice, I started on one of my three posters that I’m going to finish throughout the semester, and managed to finish it as well. Yeah, you know the one. I’ve bragged about it. I’ve definitely more than likely shown you that awesome piece of work. yeaaaaah. Ego+1.

As for photography, its been a lot of trial and error. I came here, fairly confident about my photography skills, but quickly learned that my skills were limited to the great outdoors, without using any artificial light. That works for about 10% of all photos taken, I guess. So a lot of time in the studio, a little time spent in photoshop, a lot of time spent wondering how I was going to find time to get through the lot of it – but I did! 2 pictures that are ok, and 2 that are pretty awesome. Oh yeah, part of the trial and error has been figuring out and getting used to the controls of a canon EOS 7D. Awesomesauce.

Life: This week has also had a fair few social events, such as Jannicke’s costume party (I went as Arthur Dent.. in PJs in a robe. Yes, it was comfy and awesome). I also got to take my moods of norway suit for a swing out in Northbridge (the party/clubbing/pub district in Perth), and have been invited to a protagonist party for this weekend (trying to grow a goatee of a sort for this one). Not TOO much parties for uni life, I know, but thats what happens when public transport pretty much stops all together at 9:30pm.

But what about stuff that happens before 9:30pm? Oh yeah. That stuff. Like the bartending course that I just finished that was made of freaking AWESOME :D Granted, only a two day crash course, but we get diplomas in addition to being allowed to drink everything that we mixed. I also have a work experience thingie through said course on friday this week, so hope that goes well!

Still worried about me not being able to socialize too much because of lack of public transport, though? Don’t be. Today, I just moved in to a brand new house that is made of win, awesome, and legend. Seriously. Oh, and its 7 minutes walk from Uni, which is great.

Juppjupp. No short version this time, except for reassuring everyone that I haven’t been bitten or eaten by anything super dangerous. Like rabid kangaroos, or rampaging echidnas. So relax ;D

/over and out (oh my god, I just wrote half an essay here. in half an hour. I wish actual essays were as easy)

Wicked stuff! :) You’re rambling quite a bit though :P . Don’t let the upside-down people get your brain!
